Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden said that while running back Chris Thompson pushes for more touches, "he's not going to get them."
With Rob Kelley (ribs) out this past week, Thompson continued to produce on limited touches. On eight rushes and six catches, he contributed 150 yards and a touchdown in Washington's win over the Oakland Raiders, But Samaje Perine received 20 touches of his own, which speaks to Thompson's complementary role for the Redskins' offense. Clearly, Gruden is still sticking with his plan to preserve the electric Thompson in order for him to get in a full 16-game season.
After 3 games, Thompson ranks 3rd among backs with 7.17 Rushing Net Expected Points. He's now tallied 59 fantasy points is projected for 11.2 FanDuel points at a price of $5,800 for Week 4.
