Top 10 NHL Players of the Modern Era
Is Wayne Gretzky really the best player based on the advanced analytics? Or does somebody else have him beat?

7. Sergei Zubov

Point Shares per Game: 0.13

Sergei Zubov doesn't have the name recognition that most other players on this list have, but his spot is deserving. Zubov was a three-time All-Star and a two-time champion.

He's best known for his 12-year stint with the Dallas Stars from 1996-97 to 2008-09, his final season. In all, Zubov had seven seasons inside the top 10 in defensive point shares and had five seasons in the top 10 in power play goals on-ice for.

His 74.1 defensive point shares are 11th all-time, and he's one of just six players with at least 70 defensive point shares and 60 offensive point shares in history.
