Players to target: Frank Vatrano, David Krejci and David Backes
The Boston Bruins are in a tough spot this year as they continue to underperform. They've lost four straight, including a 6-5 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings just six days ago. While the final result wasn't great, they scored five goals, including two by Frank Vatrano.
Vatrano, Krejci, and Backes had 6, 5, and 5 shots on goal, respectively, against the Red Wings last week, and the Bruins should get to dictate the matchups tonight at home. This line matched up with Riley Sheahan's line in over half of their ice time in that last meeting, so it would be wise for Claude Julien to create this matchup again.
All three will play together at even-strength and the second power-play unit, and they should avoid Frans Nielsen and the best possession line for the Red Wings. Assuming Julien gets them in good offensive matchups again, this line is set up for another big game, and they are already posting 78.9 Corsi For per 60 minutes and a Corsi For Percentage of 62.4.
