Players to target: Jamie Benn, Cody Eakin and Patrick Eaves
The Dallas Stars have looked brutal lately, only winning three of their last 12 games. They usually aren't a team we like to stack because of how often they switch lines during games, but this line spent almost the entire game together in their most recent outing against the Minnesota Wild. If they can keep the game close against the Buffalo Sabres, this line should flourish.
While they haven't spent a ton of time together, Benn, Eakin and Eaves have played extremely uptempo, posting 74 Corsi For per 60 minutes and 3.7 Expected Goals For per 60 minutes. This line has matched up with the opposing team's top line over 80% of time in some games.
Ryan O'Reilly's line (the Sabres' top line) is allowing 59 Corsi Against per 60 minutes and 3.2 Expected Goals Against per 60 minutes, making this matchup a favorable one for the Eakin's line. Benn and Eaves will play on the first power play against the Sabres' league-worst penalty kill (73.9%) and should tee off against Robin Lehner and his 76.5 High Danger Save Percentage.
