NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 11/8/17
David Pastrnak has been shooting a lot lately and will see a favorable matchup against the Rangers. Who else should you target in NHL DFS tonight?

A good chunk of you probably already play daily fantasy football, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel.com because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.

To help, take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalies to Target

Martin Jones ($8,900): Jones is one of the best tournament plays out of the six projected starting goalies tonight. He is a slight home underdog, but has posted an 84.6 High Danger Save percentage, which is the highest on the slate for any goalie. Many DFS players will want to play the Steven Stamkos-Nikita Kucherov line, making Jones an excellent leverage play if he is able to get a win. The San Jose Sharks allow the 7th-least High Danger Corsi Against per 60 minutes at even strength while the Tampa Bay Lightning are 19th in High Danger Corsi For per 60 minutes, suggesting Jones could see a bunch of easy saves.

High-Priced Skaters

Auston Matthews ($8,200): Matthews seems likely to play again, but make sure to check before lock to confirm. If he plays, he's in an excellent spot against a Minnesota Wild team that lacks depth. Matthews is at home, so the Toronto Maple Leafs will get to put him in favorable matchups all night. He should avoid the one stacked line that the Wild have, and instead feast on Chris Stewart, Eric Staal, and Jason Zucker, who, as a whole, cannot keep up with Matthews' speed. He's also started to increase his shot volume, with 15 shots on goal in his last three games. Lock him into your tournament lineups if you can afford him at a steep price tag.

David Pastrnak ($7,400): Pastrnak has 6 points in his last four games while firing 14 shots on goal in that time. He is exactly the type of player we want to play on short slates because chances are he's at least going to give you something and not crush your lineup. Pastrnak has an individual Corsi For per 60 minutes of 14.5, and may be forced to shoot even more if Brad Marchand misses another game. He should see a favorable matchup against the Kevin Hayes line, which has struggled to limit opposing teams' top lines.

Value Skaters

Nino Niederreiter ($4,900): Niederreiter seems very underpriced based on the opportunities he should have on his new-look line with Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu. Nino has an individual Corsi For per 60 minutes over 13, and gets power play time on the top unit for the Wild. Toronto had trouble limiting the Vegas Golden Knights at home a couple days ago, and Minnesota has much better offensive numbers, specifically Niederreiter and his linemates.

Frank Vatrano ($3,000): This becomes a very obvious play if Marchand is out, but Vatrano moved up to the second line in his absence and would likely do the same tonight against the New York Rangers should he miss this game. Vatrano is arguably the best value play on FanDuel, as he provides a high floor with his 19.4 individual Corsi For per 60 minutes. It's rare we can find a high-volume shooter that gets top-six minutes for minimum salary, but Vatrano is exactly that.

Brady Skjei ($4,100): Skjei doesn't have a huge floor, but he makes sense on a short slate as a value defenseman. He has an individual Corsi For per 60 minutes over 11, which is solid for his position. Skjei usually sees around 20 minutes of ice time, including the quarterback duties for the second power play that has talented players such as Rick Nash and Jimmy Vesey. Give Skjei a chance in tournaments as a low-priced defenseman with upside.
