A good chunk of you probably already play daily fantasy football, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Henrik Lundqvist ($8,000): The New York Rangers goalie carries some risk, but has some nice potential reward too. He has topped 20 FanDuel points in four of his last five starts aside from the debacle against the New York Islanders last week. Lundqvist faced 30-plus shots in 8 of his last 11 starts as well. This has been a real bounce back season so far for the goalie with 13 quality starts in 18 outings (72%). He yields just over two goals a contest at home, which should boost his ownership rate a bit. His FanDuel price may do that more, honestly, given the Rangers are playing the Ottawa Senators. Watch for other confirmations, but Lundqvist is likely barring something unforeseen.
High-Priced Skaters
Taylor Hall ($7,900): Hall becomes a bit more risky than usual on Monday night, but with real-world points in his last three contests, Hall is still in play. The Florida Panthers allowed 25 goals in their last five games and in their previous meeting, the New Jersey Devils winger had a goal, three shots, and three high-danger scoring chances. Florida is a high-event team even more often at home and 35-plus shot chances are high for both teams in this game. New Jersey has been allowing so many goals on the road as well (4.12 per game), so they are almost forced to score or be scored upon. If Hall is too risky, then Alex Ovechkin ($8,800) is rather safe, and David Pastrnak ($8,300) is a possible breakout play given his five-game goal drought.
Matt Duchene ($6,600): So, the Senators pivot just has to be played over and over, much like Mike Hoffman from Florida. Streaky players like Duchene just have to be used as often as humanly possible. Duchene tallied two more assists against the Dallas Stars on Friday night, and averages nearly a point a game against the Rangers career wise. The implied Ottawa goal total comes in at a respectable 2.66 for a road game. Dylan Larkin ($6,200) and John Tavares ($8,800) come in as good center options for tournaments on Monday night from the high-priced category.
Value Skaters
Frank Vatrano ($3,200): The Florida forward plays on the second line at even strength, and is priced at just above minimum on Monday night. Punt plays at this stage of the season like this are more scarce. Vatrano has six real-world points in his last nine games along with averaging right around three shots a night. New Jersey's depth is a mess and given their propensity for leaving players wide open in the slot, that fits right into Vatrano's shoot first mentality. Jesper Bratt ($3,600) is someone to look into from New Jersey for almost the same reasons as Vatrano. Bratt also sees a little more man advantage time as well.
Kevan Miller ($3,500): Miller is a very risky play tonight. However, his four hits and five blocked shots against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night raises his floor some when it comes to shots and blocked shots. He plays a Toronto Maple Leafs team that loves to shoot the puck often against their bitter rivals. Shot attempts should be high enough to foster a play of the Boston Bruins defenseman. He has averaged almost 24 minutes of ice time a night since the Zdeno Chara injury and expects to see that much time until Chara returns. Dennis Cholowski ($3,700) and Scott Mayfield ($3,700) present decent floor and value options on Monday night among defensemen.
