NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 11/27/18
Nathan MacKinnon is rolling, and he's taking on a banged-up Nashville squad. Who else can you trust in NHL DFS?

A good chunk of you probably already play daily fantasy football, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.

To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Curtis McElhinney ($7,500): The Carolina Hurricanes goalie is risky, but the probability of seeing 30plus shots from the Montreal Canadiens is high. McElhinney has been the most reliable Carolina goaltender of the three and has stopped 97 of his last 101 shots faced (.969 save percentage). With a price this cheap, his ownership may be pretty high. As always, check for goalie confirmations and wait until some late ones come in, if possible. Expect Devan Dubnyk to be highly owned tonight at $9,100, because Arizona has scored only six goals in their last five games.

High-Priced Skaters

Jeff Skinner ($7,200): Skinner becomes more attractive partially because many will gravitate towards Patrik Laine after his five-goal performance over the weekend. Skinner has 18 goals on the season, with 4 of them in his last four contests. Also, he has 10 real-world points in the previous 9 games, totaling 30 shots on net in that span. Scoring chances have inched up by about 5% from last year, but Skinner is scoring more despite fewer shots per game on net. Better shot selection has been vital in his early-season breakout. Claude Giroux ($7,600) could be an intriguing target from the Philadelphia Flyers. Ottawa is on the back end of a back-to-back and allows a tick more than five goals per game on the road. Philadelphia is not much better, so Ottawa Senators could feast on a penalty kill that is also right around 70%.

Nathan MacKinnon ($8,900): So, the Colorado Avalanche' center has become a plug-and-play center no matter his high price. He has 15 goals on 99 shots in just 23 games. Furthermore, he again anchors the most expensive first line on the slate ($23,800), and yet there should be some ownership on them anyway. Nashville is banged up with several key injuries -- including P.K. Subban. In 14 road contests, the Avalanche have scored 58 goals this year. MacKinnon is a huge reason why, and yet Nashville still has a 63.1% chance of winning, per our numbers. Brayden Point ($7,400) is another excellent option, with 12 real-world points in his last six games. Even Matt Duchene ($6,600) enjoys a plus matchup against Philadelphia.

Value Skaters

Colin White ($3,700): The Ottawa forward plays on the second line at even strength and is priced at value on Tuesday night. Punt plays at this stage of the season are more spread out on the larger slate. White has double-digit FanDuel points in three of his last four games. White sees some power play time, as well, so gaining any kind of edge on Tuesday night helps. Calle Jarnkrok ($3,700) offers some second-line potential from Nashville and will go up against Colorado's depth defensemen often.

Andrew Shaw ($3,900): Shaw provides a decent floor (averages 2.1 shots per game and 0.65 blocks per contest) from the forward position. He has been the top-six glue that has helped Max Domi thrive so well in his first season with Montreal. Shaw has 13 points in 20 games overall. His price is still in the value range, which is a mild surprise. He has tallied double-digit FanDuel points in three straight contests without much of a bump in price. Players at less than $400 per FanDuel point are hard to come by. Nikolay Goldobin ($3,700) is a safe value choice from the Vancouver Canucks. For a higher-risk play, Ryan Spooner has been projected to be on the top line for Edmonton and costs just $3,600. He plays with McDavid, which can be a good selling point no matter the matchup.
