A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Jaroslav Halak ($8,400): The Boston Bruins will start Halak against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. The only risk is the potential for a low save total. Anaheim averages just 27.4 shots per game (dead last in the NHL). Boston has allowed over 30 shots a game on the road this season though, and Anaheim did look more structured on Wednesday night against Vancouver Canucks. The moderate cost of Halak makes this play less of a risk. Also, Alexandar Georgiev ($7,700) could be a good high-risk GPP start against a Buffalo Sabres team which could put up 35-40 shots on net against a New York Rangers team that allowed 56 shots against the Toronto Maple Leafs this week.
High-Priced Skaters
Sebastian Aho ($7,300): Aho and the Carolina Hurricanes enjoy a good matchup against the Edmonton Oilers. The center's price has stabilized, making him a great choice on Friday night. He has not scored a goal in five contests but does have four assists and 16 scoring chances in that span. Edmonton's penalty kill is just under 74% over their past 15 outings as well. Aho could easily have 4-plus shots and 3-plus scoring chances against the Oilers. Mika Zibanejad ($7,600) and Patrice Bergeron ($8,400) carry good matchups against Buffalo and Anaheim, respectively.
Jeff Skinner ($7,300): Skinner enjoys one of the best matchups of the night on paper against a New York team that allows 4.04 goals per game on the road. Georgiev is confirmed to start. The expectation is that Buffalo could come close to 40 shots against the Rangers as New York gives up 38 shots per 60 away from home this calendar year. Skinner is a high-volume shooter who can fire 5-plus shots on net and recently ten against the Chicago Blackhawks. Brad Marchand ($8,700) is on a hot streak right now for Boston, and Zach Parise ($6,800) is in a solid spot versus a not rested New Jersey Devils' defense.
Value Skaters
Travis Zajac ($3,700): This play worked on Thursday night as Zajac scored a goal and generate just over 20 FanDuel points. The dilemma is New Jersey may look sluggish on the back end of back to back nights. The key with Zajac is he should draw a matchup against the Parise line which will allow some chances. Zajac's price even inched down another $100. Evan Rodrigues ($3,700) is still seeing second-line ice time and some power-play time as well for Buffalo.
Luke Kunin ($3,600): Kunin's offensive production has shot up nicely along with his playing time (15-plus minutes in five straight contests). The winger scored twice and generated four scoring chances against the Philadelphia Flyers. Kunin gets an excellent matchup against the depth of New Jersey on Friday. His speed and wrist shot could create lots of chaos for a defense that panics frequently. Andrei Svechnikov ($3,600) is a potential play at home against Edmonton on Friday.
