A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Semyon Varlamov ($7,700): The Colorado Avalanche are projected to start Varlamov against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. Varlamov has looked better of late with seven quality starts and a shutout in his last 10 games. He could see a lot of pucks come his way as Detroit attempts to end a seven-game losing streak. Plus, the goalie has allowed a respectable 17 goals in his previous 8 starts. He's probably more of a tournament than cash option even with Colorado's chance of winning on Tuesday night. The New York Islanders present a great chance of winning, but no one knows who will start just yet. For what it is worth, both goalies are at just $8,200 after their team's two straight losses.
High-Priced Skaters
Sidney Crosby ($9,300): Crosby playing against the Florida Panthers is a prime matchup. He has 20-plus FanDuel points in each of his last four contests. Florida comes in yielding 18 goals in their last 5 games. Also, the Panthers are among the worst in the league at giving up goals on the road (3.81 per contest). Both teams expected to score goals in this one, but Crosby will draw Florida's depth lines, which almost guarantees success. Jake Guentzel again looks like a nice companion piece for mini-stacking. Watch to see who their right-winger is in the lineup, too. As for other centers, Nathan MacKinnon ($8,000) and Tyler Seguin ($7,800) both feature plus matchups at home tonight.
Artemi Panarin ($8,000): Panarin, a Columbus Blue Jackets top forward, is up against a team that he torments often in the New Jersey Devils. He has double-digit FanDuel points in four of his last five games. Some of Panarin's best games in the past couple seasons have been against New Jersey, including a night with five real-world points. New Jersey has anywhere from 8 to 10 injured players and is fielding an AHL caliber team in front of Cory Schneider. New Jersey has lost four of their last five games, and of the 15 goals yielded, 9 of them have been from top lines. Filip Forsberg ($7,300) and Nikita Kucherov ($9,200) are prime winger options on Tuesday night.
Value Skaters
Brad Richardson ($3,700): Richardson plays 15-16 minutes a night and enjoys a good matchup against the Anaheim Ducks' depth. Not only has Arizona won five straight games, but Anaheim allows 3.18 goals per game on the road, and Richardson does have five goals in their last four games. Arizona's top line can be stacked with Vincent Hinostroza providing plenty of value. The Ducks' penalty kill has slipped to 77% on the road over the previous 15 contests. Joel Eriksson Ek ($3,900) garners top-six ice time for the Minnesota Wild and provides some offensive potential. Also, Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3,400) could be a punt option from the Ottawa Senators as he plays top-six minutes.
Blake Coleman ($3,800): Coleman has struggled of late but does have eight shots on net while playing 18+ minutes in both games. The 13-game pointless streak will guarantee low ownership on Tuesday night. He may be pressing a bit, but Columbus has yielded 17 goals in their last five games (1-4 in that time). The Blue Jackets may be the perfect team to help snap Coleman out of his point funk. Ryan Donato is a solid option for Minnesota, with double-digit FanDuel points in three of his last four games. Finally, Roope Hintz ($3,700) has 10 shots on net in his previous three starts and plays against a New York Rangers that has allowed nearly 38 shots per 60 on the road this calendar year.
