A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Petr Mrazek ($7,800): Mrazek starts for Carolina in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders on Friday night. The only risk may be how the Islanders come out after a long rest. After all, the Columbus Blue Jackets generated just 22 shots on Tuukka Rask in 65 minutes of action on Thursday night. On the other hand, the Carolina goalie is the cheapest option on the night and could be a reasonable one. Mrazek's ability to come up with big saves in the third period and overtime is why Carolina advanced past the Washington Capitals. He faces a different beast in the Islanders where he may face fewer shots at times but better chances. Martin Jones ($8.000) may be an adventure in net but could have some value against a rested Colorado Avalanche squad.
High-Priced Skaters
Nathan MacKinnon ($9,000): MacKinnon could be off for two weeks and it would not matter much. He skates downhill with acceleration in a way few can match. The San Jose Sharks and Logan Couture will have difficult times containing him in this series. The Avalanche center has 21-plus FanDuel points in four straight contests with 21 shots and 3 blocked shots in that span. Add in the eight real-world points and his production resembles that of a video game. The center is worth every penny to roster. Sebastian Aho ($6,600) is heating up for Carolina and had multiple points in a Game 7 against Washington on Wednesday.
Anders Lee ($6,800): Choices become limited as the second round gets underway. Lee is a beast of a forward that can plant himself in front of the net on rushes or on the power play. Lee has a more than respectable 12 shots on 21 shot attempts in his last four games. That comes with three points as well. The only risk may be whether Lee can get off his shot with the Carolina defense keying on him. If he can generate those chances off time and space, like he did against Pittsburgh, then this first game could easily see Lee hit double-digits in points. With Joe Pavelski out and the two Colorado wingers in play, could another option be Teuvo Teravainen at just $6.300.
Value Skaters
Carl Soderberg ($4,300): This may be a bit high in price for a value play, but Soderberg was basically a 50-point player on the season, providing deceptively good scoring depth for Colorado. He gets solid ice time and usually sees a little bit of power-play time (45 to 60 seconds a night). He averages just about two shots a game and generates almost the same amount of scoring chances every night. If he stays around this price, Soderberg will be a good play throughout this series.
Tom Kuhnhackl ($3,300): Kuhnhackl and the Islanders have not played in 10 days. Which players are the least rusty? Usually, players like Kuhnhackl have the easiest time getting their legs back after a long layoff. The winger has five shots and four scoring chances in the past two games. Also, he tallied an assist in each of those contests. Warren Foegele ($3,700) or Colin Wilson ($3,700) come across as solid tournament options on Friday night, too.
