NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 10/14/19
The six-game slate features lots of plays and traps. So, who can you trust on Monday in DFS?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Semyon Varlamov ($7,500): The New York Islanders' goaltender expects to face the St. Louis Blues on Monday afternoon. Varlamov has had an ugly time of it on Long Island so far. He did stop 35 of 37 shots against the Florida Panthers in a 3-2 win over the weekend and ranks 12th among 38 goalies in expected save percentage. Craig Anderson ($7,200) presents as a possible value option (if he starts) against the Minnesota Wild on Monday for the potential of a win and seeing 30-plus shots on net.

High-Priced Skaters

Jack Eichel ($8,400): The forward is on fire after recording seven real-world points in five games and 22 shots on net. He has tacked on two power-play goals while nearly playing 22 minutes per night. Buffalo's power play is the best in the NHL at 42%. Several players are available today including Aleksander Barkov ($7,500) and Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7,300) -- who sometimes plays on the power-play with Alex Ovechkin.

Mike Hoffman ($7,100): Hoffman gets a plus-matchup against a New Jersey Devils team that is killing penalties at only 50% (31st in the NHL). New Jersey also allows nearly 40 scoring chances per 60 in the early going, so Hoffman may be an even-strength threat this afternoon. He carries some risk as he had a bagel against the Islanders on Saturday. Taylor Hall ($7,300) is a safer pick, and Alex Ovechkin ($8,700) also present solid GPP plays against the Panthers and Anaheim Ducks.

Value Skaters

Samuel Blais ($3,700): Blais is enjoying a breakout season, as he combines some offensive touch with his propensity to hit people. The winger has five real-world points in five games on eight shots and four blocked shots. The only drawback is that Blais sees little or no power-play time. However, he is on the second line with David Perron and Ryan O'Reilly. Some other value options from the wing are and Ondrej Kase ($4,000) and Mattias Janmark ($3,600) as they could easily exceed their projected point totals on Monday.

Brad Hunt ($3,600): The Minnesota Wild have gotten off to an awful start, but Hunt has not. He has 4 real-world points in four games with 10 shots on net. He is a risky GPP play because Hunt only plays about 15 minutes a night, but his price is just slightly above FanDuel minimum. There are a few other plays on Monday including Adam Pelech of the Islanders at $3,700 and Nikita Zaitsev ($3,600), who can block a number of shots and chip in occasionally on offense, of the Ottawa Senators.
