A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
John Gibson ($8,000): The Anaheim Ducks goaltender is expected to start against the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday night. Everyone knows what happens when Gibson starts lately -- the shots pile up. He was bombarded in Vegas with 30-plus shots in under 40 minutes of action on Sunday. Winnipeg is a team that averages over 30 shots a game on the road, and Anaheim opens a seven-game homestand that should benefit the Anaheim goalie greatly. Ben Bishop ($8,400) is in a good spot against a low-scoring Minnesota Wild team, along with Mike Smith ($7,800) versus a Detroit Red Wings that cannot buy a win.
High-Priced Skaters
Connor McDavid ($8,800): The center possesses a great matchup against a Detroit team that cannot hold leads plus bleeds goals. McDavid has 21 real-world points in 12 games with 36 shots on goal. He generates scoring chances at a rate which tops the league. With Jimmy Howard projected in net, Edmonton projects to fire around 35 shots on net and potentially 3.5 goals or more. It may be tough to stack McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, but maybe one opts for Darnell Nurse instead to save some money. Other great center options include Brayden Point and Sidney Crosby -- Crosby plays against the Philadelphia Flyers with whom he averages well over a point-per-game career wise against.
David Pastrnak ($9,100): The most chalky play of the night is a plug-and-play special. Pastrnak is the hottest player in the league period. He has 23 real-world points in nine games and comes off a five-assist performance against the New York Rangers. If you hold him down shot wise, he can pass. If one takes away the passing lanes, he creates space to shoot. There is a reason why he has hit the rarified $9,000 price plateau. Pastrnak earned it. With San Jose allowing three and four goals on a regular basis, Pastrnak and Boston's top line are going to be heavily owned. Lineups will have to utilize him somewhere almost by default. Alex Ovechkin ($8,400) is the other big draw against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Also consider a player like Jake Guentzel because of the Philadelphia matchup.
Value Skaters
Calle Jarnkrok ($4,000): Jarnkrok has been excellent since Filip Forsberg went down to injury and has energized the top line for Nashville. He has points in three-straight contests and comes off his best game of the season where he totaled five shots and four scoring chances (three high-danger chances). Jarnkrok played 19 minutes against the Tampa Bay Lightning and in all situations. Maybe this is a sign that Jarnkrok is finally fulfilling all the potential he had when the winger was drafted. Either way, he is still value-priced and way below market value. Anders Bjork ($3,300) is worth a flier from Boston, and Alexander Nylander ($3,100) from the Chicago Blackhawks allow a DFS player to spend up for the top players.
Nick Bonino ($3,800): The Nashville center has eight real-world points in 11 games. Although, he only has 14 shots on net, Bonino has 15 scoring chances, which is decent for a middle-six center. One of his biggest assets is his ability to block shots. He averages 1.2 a game there, which adds a little bit of value to his resume. Colton Sissons ($3,700) is a roll of the dice on Tuesday, as well as David Kampf ($3,200) -- though Kampf is averaging 2.3 shots per game with increasing ice time for Chicago.
