A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
John Gibson ($7,700): The prospect of an early confirmed home goaltender is hard to pass up here. Anaheim typically allows a higher volume of shots, which should help Gibson as Columbus ranks 10th in the league. Anaheim is second-worst in penalties taken, so the expectation is that Anaheim will allow more shots via a product of their undisciplined nature. Gibson just has to hold it together against a unrested Columbus team with nine players out due to injury. Andrei Vasilevskiy ($9,000) is the likely chalk goalie against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
High-Priced Skaters
Mika Zibanejad ($7,600): The center has cooled off a bit in his last two games but is still averaging 4.3 shots per game over his last 10 contests. That includes seven goals and five assists in that span as well. Scoring chances have been well above three per contest, too. Consider that Colorado comes off a 1-0 game on Long Island last night and chances both ways should be quite elevated here. The expectation is of a high-event game that both teams are better suited for. Nathan MacKinnon ($9,200) does not expected to be slowed down here and represents an excellent alternative.
Alex Ovechkin ($8,500): Ovechkin is a moderate-risk GPP play on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. The reason is simple. Ovechkin has not had a two-goal game since his hat trick against Detroit on November 30th. Even his shots on goal has dipped of late (just seven in his previous three contests). He has more shots as well. Ottawa's depth means a chance to get well for the Russian forward, who could use a big game. Additionally, Nikita Kucherov ($7,800) is one alternative and Jonathan Huberdeau ($7,500 -- 20 points in his last 10 games) remains another.
Value Skaters
Conor Garland ($3,700): Garland suffers from erratic time deployment as a middle-six winger, but when he gets time, he often excels. The winger has 14 goals in 43 games this season despite playing around 12.5 minutes per night. He still averages 2.4 shots per game and has three power-play goals despite limited time there. Florida is a team that can allow goals in bunches to any team they play against. Look at Detroit a little while back where they gave up five goals. Anything is possible.
Ondrej Kase ($3,500): Kase has 94 shots on goal in 36 games played but has just three goals. When does this bizarre run end? The last two years he shot at a rate of nearly 13%. This year that number is just 3.2%. That is a huge reason why his goals are down so much. Again, the chances are there and Columbus is not rested. With him playing top-six minutes and shooting three-plus shots a game of late, he is worth at least being in a lineup or two tonight. Kevin Stenlund ($3,300) from Columbus has 12 shots on goal in his last four games and could be a decent punt play on Tuesday.
