If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars
Anthony Cirelli, Center, Tampa Bay Lightning
FanDuel Price: $5,100
Considering Anthony Cirelli does not play on the power play for the Tampa Bay Lightning, this is a relatively steep price. However, the second-line center has managed to pick up seven actual points in his last five games.
He'll line up with Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson on the Tampa's second line as they visit the Anaheim Ducks. Tampa is averaging 3.58 goals per game, the fourth-most in the NHL and this is definitely a good spot for them, despite the road matchup.
Ryan Dzingel, Winger, Carolina Hurricanes
FanDuel Price: $4,200
This is a pretty cheap price to get the winger playing alongside Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho. Ryan Dzingel will play with Teravainen and Aho at even strength while also having a spot on the Carolina Hurricanes second power-play unit.
However, Dzingel has not necessarily been lighting the world on fire this season with just 8 goals and 27 points in 51 games -- a far cry from his 26 goals and 26 points in 78 games last season. But this is definitely the best situation he's been in, so hopefully he can capitalize.
Chandler Stephenson, Winger, Vegas Golden Knights
FanDuel Price: $3,600
Speaking of capitalizing on situations, Chandler Stephenson is centering the top line for the Vegas Golden Knights despite being listed as a winger on FanDuel. He will play with Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith. In addition to playing together on the top line at even strength, Stephenson should be on the top power-play unit, as well, which increases his potential value.
Tony DeAngelo, Defense, New York Rangers
FanDuel Price: $4,900
With 12 goals and 37 points in 48 games, Tony DeAngelo is going to get paid this summer when he becomes a Restricted Free Agent.
His DFS value tonight is fantastic as he is the top point-per-dollar defenseman, per our projections. He quarterbacks the Rangers' top power-play unit, and they have been solid with the man advantage, converting on 21.6 percent of their opportunities.
Filip Hronek, Defense, Detroit Red Wings
FanDuel Price: $4,000
Filip Hronek is having a sneaky-good season with 9 goals and 26 points in 49 games. While his plus/minus of -25 is horrendous, he gets a bit of a pass because the Detroit Red Wings have been historically bad. He is averaging 2.02 shots and 1.22 blocks per game while leading the team in average ice-time per night -- getting a touch more than 1:30 more than the next player, Danny DeKeyser.
Hronek plays on the point on the Red Wings' top power play, though their 30th-ranked power play converts on just 14.8 percent of their opportunities. However, the opposing New York Rangers have a bottom-10 penalty kill, successfully killing off just 78.5 percent of their penalties faced.
