NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.
Goalie to Target
Linus Ullmark ($8,100): Besides the fact the Boston Bruins are insane -385 home favorites, Ullmark might be playing for his job. The Bruins recently resigned long-time goalie Tuukka Rask, putting Ullmark in an interesting spot. There's no doubt Rask is going to see some playing time, but the question is, how much? After offseason surgery, Rask's level he can maintain in net in what will be his 13th year in the league will always be in question. This is essentially a chance for Ullmark to prove he deserves playing time over the veteran coming back from an injury.
Regardless of that storyline, it's actually an awesome matchup since Ullmark is taking on the Montreal Canadiens, who are scoring only 1.88 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations (third-lowest in the league). The Bruins' defense is elite, as usual, allowing the eighth-fewest (2.19) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. It's a great matchup for Ullmark, and he has a legitimate incentive to have his best outing of the year.
High-Priced Skaters
Jason Robertson ($7,800): The Dallas Stars have a solid 3.49 implied goal total and are in a spot to hit or exceed that total versus the Seattle Kraken. It's been a rough start for the league's newest franchise, allowing 3.23 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations -- worst in the league. This means we can look to any team going against them for some offensive upside, and the Stars are the ones with the Golden Ticket tonight.
Robertson is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit for the Stars and has been putting up the numbers recently to prove it. He enters with 12 NHL points and 32 shots on goal over his last 10 games, which are first and second on the Stars in that time. It's an elite matchup, and Roberston is producing at an elite level.
Patrice Bergeron ($8,200): The Bruins lead the slate with a 3.84 implied goal total, so there's no reason not to look towards their offense tonight. The top line's center, Bergeron, always makes a great DFS option since you can look to stack him Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak, giving you one of the best power-play stacks in the league.
The Canadiens are a mess this season, and the matchup is one you should always be looking to attack. The Habs come in allowing a 57.52 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) and 2.65 Goals allowed, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Those both rank in the bottom 10 of the league, and it puts the Bruins' offense in a dream matchup.
Value Skaters
Ondrej Kase ($5,700): We are always looking for a bit of value that has a good offensive role on a team with a high implied goal total, and tonight, that leads us to Kase. With Mitchell Marner in the league's COVID protocol, Kase has moved up to the first forward line and the first power-play unit. To say that's a valuable role to have in one of the league's best offenses would be an understatement. He'll be up against the Arizona Coyotes, who are allowing the third-most (3.04) Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, making this a spot that's too good to pass up.
