3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Monday 3/28/22
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers have a great matchup versus the Arizona Coyotes as part of an entertaining five-game NHL slate.

Spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from spending up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are spending salary in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Monday night brings us five games on the schedule. Here are a few studs.

Connor McDavid, Center, Edmonton Oilers

FanDuel Salary: $10,300

The Edmonton Oilers have the best matchup of the night with a Connor McDavid has 6 goals and 12 assists in the last nine games as he sets his sights on getting to 100 real-world points as soon as possible. The center buoys one of the best five power-play units in the league.

Arizona has problems slowing other teams down offensively. They allow 3.56 goals per game, 35.3 shots per game, and have a 73.3% penalty kill. All of those are bottom-three in the NHL.

McDavid will be the primetime center to roster on Monday night at home, especially with that chance to hit a certain milestone.

Patrick Kane, Wing, Chicago Blackhawks

FanDuel Salary: $9,100

Patrick Kane gets to face the hometown Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. The winger has two goals and eight assists in his last five contests.

The Sabres have had a way of winning games of late, but they sure give up their share of goals.

The numbers suggest just 3.17 goals for the Blackhawks, but that seems low considering Buffalo can go goal-for-goal against any team of late. Chicago's top scoring line also features Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome, who should also be considered.

Even Kane may go a bit lower rostered than usual. This is especially true with Alex Ovechkin playing on Monday.

John Carlson, Defenseman, Washington Capitals

FanDuel Salary: $6,500

The Washington Capitals are a bit expensive for some tastes, but John Carlson is a solid option on Monday.

Carlson has 44 assists on the season to go along with 11 goals. His last game against New Jersey was helpful to DFS players, as Carlson chipped in 2 helpers and 24.6 FanDuel points in all.

This is a challenging matchup, even at home, against the Carolina Hurricanes. But Carlson has double-digit FanDuel points in six straight games and has 19 shots and 11 blocked shots on goal in his last six starts.

Sneaking in Carlson with some of Washington's middle-six talent could pay dividends.
