In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.
Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.
After just one game last night, we've got 14 tonight. Let's sink our teeth into the best stacks of the night on this massive slate.
Florida Panthers
We have to look to stack the Florida Panthers in most of their games, and tonight is no different. They currently have the best offense we've seen in the NHL since the 1995-96 season. Tonight's matchup is pristine, and it's against a team with little to play for this season.
The Panthers have stuck with the same lines for a little while now. The first line with Aleksander Barkov ($9,700) has Anthony Duclair ($5,800) and Carter Verhaeghe ($5,200) on the wings. Duclair looks to have regained his role on the top power play, and giving him that extra correlation with Barkov makes him that much better of a fantasy asset.
With a team this deep, there is going to be more than just one clear way to stack them. The second line will also be a good way to get exposure to the best offense in hockey.
Jonathan Huberdeau ($9,000) has 18 points in his last 10 games and has cleared the 100-point mark for the first time in his career. Claude Giroux ($6,400) has fit in pretty nicely with Florida, recording 11 points in 10 games. Sam Bennett ($6,500) won't play on the same power play as Giroux and Huberdeau but is tied for third on the team with 27 goals.
Florida will take on the struggling Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim has really sunk to one of the worst teams in the league of late. They've won just four games since March 1st and have allowed 3.77 goals per game in that time span.
The Panthers once again have a huge implied team total, sitting at 4.33 goals. They are definitely one of the most explosive stacks on the board on this slate.
Toronto Maple Leafs
It was quite a week from the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially from a fantasy perspective. They played four games and were fantasy relevant in all four. Their best players continue to dominate and make them interesting on every slate.
The Leafs have been led by Auston Matthews ($10,400) and his remarkable goal-scoring run. On Saturday, he scored twice to make it 51 goals in his last 50 games, which is the best stretch of goal scoring we've seen since the early 1990s. Mitchell Marner ($9,800) shouldn't be overlooked, as he leads all players in points in 2022. Michael Bunting ($5,300) now has the most points of any rookie due to playing on a line with these two stars.
Toronto is at home against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Buffalo has now allowed the sixth-most goals per game and the sixth-most shots on goal per game, as well. They will be debuting Owen Power on defense, but the first overall pick is unlikely to be able to impact their defensive play in his first game.
Toronto is the only team with a higher implied team total than Florida tonight. Unlike the Panthers, the Leafs have a clear line to stack that stands above the rest of the team as the main option.
Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals have been picked on a bit, being labeled as the only Eastern Conference playoff team that you want to play in the first round. That could be the case, but the Capitals are still a dangerous team. Tonight, they'll have a matchup that could prove they are still a team to fear.
The first line for Washington has had to carry the offense a bit, as the depth pieces have suffered injuries for a lot of the season. Alex Ovechkin ($9,600) hasn't really been in the news recently for his goal-scoring, but he still has seven goals in his last 10 games and is approaching 50 on the season. Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7,400) has continued his renaissance season with 10 points in his last 10 games. Conor Sheary ($4,300) is a fine piece to add in for a bit of salary relief with this stack.
You also should consider playing defenseman John Carlson ($7,100), who has eight points in his last three games and correlates well with Ovechkin on the power play.
Washington will face the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are another team that is just playing out the string, trying to get to the end of the season. They have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and have allowed five goals or more in four of those games.
The Capitals may not be too popular with so many teams on this slate. They should have the upside in this matchup to produce a slate-breaking performance. Their implied team total is the fourth-highest on the slate, so the oddsmakers expect a good outing from them.
Others to Consider: Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild
