FanDuel Price: $3,100
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Eric Hosmer and the Kansas City Royals matchup with strikeout king Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins. Hitters against high-priced aces, especially ones with a 35.6% strikeout rate, usually get overlooked.
Why You Should Use Him:
As elite as Fernandez is, targeting left-handed bats against him isn't a completely futile effort. Fernandez's strikeout drops by 17% for lefties, along with a jump in xFIP from 1.58 (righties) to 3.14 (lefties).
In addition, Marlins Park is no longer a place where home runs go to die, especially for left-handed hitters. Per Baseball Prospectus, Marlins Park ranks 17th in homerun factor for left-handed hitters. While that may not jump off the page, the same park was the third-worst home run park for lefties just a year ago.
For an option that many are sure to ignore, look no further than Hosmer.
