4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 9/8/16
Ryan Schimpf has some insane batted-ball stats over the second half of the season, including a 67.0% fly-ball rate, and he gets a great matchup against Jeff Hoffman.

Alex Cobb, P, Tampa Bay Rays

FanDuel Price: $8,900

After Alex Cobb missed all of 2015 and most of 2016 with injuries, it's easy to forget the promise he showed in 2014. That year, Cobb posted a 3.26 SIERA, 21.9% strikeout rate, and 6.9% walk rate over 166 1/3 innings.

He's only made one start this season since being activated off the disabled list, but it was a pretty outstanding effort as he fanned seven and allowed just four hits in five innings against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tonight, Cobb gets an easier matchup against the New York Yankees. While New York has made a push for the playoffs since they shook up their roster at the trade deadline, the Yankees haven't been very good offensively. Over the last 30 days, the Bronx Bombers own the sixth-highest swinging-strike rate (11.4%) and rank 18th in on-base percentage (.324).

Even though Cobb is the most expensive pitcher on the slate, this is far from a safe play. The game is at homer-happy Yankee Stadium, and with his team out of contention, Cobb will likely be on a strict pitch count, making him a risky choice. However, all of the other pitching options come with risks, as well, and none of them possess the upside of Cobb. Garcia is a better cash option, but Cobb could be an interesting tourney play.
