Jay Bruce simply beat up on right-handed pitching last year, racking up a .262/.326/.546 slash line, .361 wOBA and .283 ISO versus opposite-handed pitchers. He did that even though his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) against righties sat at only .271 (well below last year's league average of .298) despite a huge 40.2% hard-hit rate, leaving lots of room for optimism that he can improve his numbers.
Julio Teheran was pretty good last year, pitching to a 3.93 SIERA after finishing 2015 with a 4.24 SIERA. But lefties beat up on him as he allowed a .325 wOBA to lefty hitters while posting only a 15.5% strikeout rate and 5.54 xFIP.
