FanDuel Price: $2,000
As a general rule, you don't often want to roster guys likely to hit eighth in the order. But on a short slate like tonight's (just four games), sometimes we have to compromise our values a bit. That's where Mallex Smith comes in.
Smith is no world-beater, coming off a 2016 rookie campaign that saw him post a .300 wOBA. Marcus Stroman doesn't exactly represent a cakewalk of a matchup, but for the minimum salary, Smith's splits against right-handed pitching become pretty interesting.
Through 164 career plate appearances against right-handers, Smith has hit for a .297/.364/.448 slash with a .351 wOBA. It's his inability to hit southpaws that has kept his overall numbers (and daily fantasy price tag) so low. If you're looking for a true punt play, you can do much worse than Smith tonight.
