Matt Joyce will likely hit leadoff for the Oakland Athletics as they travel to the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park and take on Texas Rangers righty A.J. Griffin.

Griffin has not looked good through three seasons in the majors, with a career 4.15 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) and a career-worst 4.63 mark to go with his 5.08 ERA in 2016. His numbers were especially bad against left-handed hitters last year, allowing a .406 wOBA on a 44.4% hard-hit rate and 50.0% fly-ball rate.

Joyce, on the other hand, is coming off one of his best seasons, having posted a .375 wOBA and .221 isolated slugging (ISO) last year. He cracked right-handed pitchers for a 38.1% hard-hit rate and .380 wOBA, and the way those batted ball numbers line up suggest some pretty serious upside.
