Ryan Schimpf showed a ton of promise from the dish as a rookie in 2016, posting a .362 wOBA and .315 ISO on a 39.7% hard-hit rate through 330 plate appearances. He's not hitting for a great average this year, but does own a .352 wOBA through 48 plate appearances.
He's taking on the Atlanta Braves and lefty Jaime Garcia tonight, and with Garcia having posted a shaky 3.93 SIERA and 31.1% hard-hit rate last year, Schimpf has some nice upside despite the Padres' uninspiring 3.80 implied total.
