5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/18/17
Despite his hot start, don't take your chances with Jimmy Nelson in daily fantasy today. Who else should you avoid on a full Tuesday slate?

Jimmy Nelson, SP, Milwaukee Brewers

FanDuel Price: $7,800

Like Leake, Jimmy Nelson has also gotten off to a hot start with a 1.38 ERA and 25.5% strikeout rate through 13 innings of work.

He takes on the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, who have been scuffling a bit on offense this year. Thus far against right-handed pitching, the defending champs have just a 73 wRC+ and a 25.3% strikeout rate.

But don't be tempted into using Nelson against them. Last year, this same Cubs team had a solid 103 wRC+ against righties with a more league average 21.5% strikeout rate.

More importantly, Nelson had a lackluster 4.92 SIERA in 2016, and only struck out batters 17.4% of the time. This year's 8.8% swinging-strike rate is an improvement from last year (7.4%), but isn't an indication he will keep up his elevated strikeout rate.

Furthermore, early forecasts show the wind blowing out at Wrigley, which is bumping up the Cubs' implied total to 5.25.

At age 27, Nelson is still young enough to exhibit some improvements in 2017, but testing that out against the Cubs at this juncture isn't a good idea.
