FanDuel Price: $2,900
Already offering tons of value with a low salary recently -- Matt Carpenter's price has actually fallen today. That has me scratching my head, but it also has me plugging him into lineups without much of a second thought.
He's making some decent contact to start the season, with a 32.4% hard-hit and 41.2% fly-ball rate over a fairly small 56-plate-appearance sample, and if we look back at his 2016 numbers, he crushed right-handed pitching with a .389 wOBA on a 47.2% hard-hit rate, a 8.7% soft-hit rate and a 46.6% fly-ball rate.
He also draws a great matchup -- righty Wily Peralta has not had a ton of success in the majors, with a 4.75 SIERA in 2015 and a 4.51 mark in 2016, along with sitting at 4.53 through three starts this season. Left-handed hitters tagged him for a .374 wOBA, and numbers like this are what you'd expect for someone being written up as a high-priced stud, not a value option.
