Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Nelson Cruz may not be facing a left-handed pitcher, but he's still in a great spot to tee off, facing Ricky Nolasco Wednesday evening. Nolasco's 45.6% fly-ball rate and 33.3% hard-hit rate may spell trouble against the white-hot Cruz, who returns home in a park that ranks a surprising 12th in home run factor over the last three years. Cruz owns five homers in his last seven games.
It's a bit of surprise recommending a member of the Kansas City Royals, given their league-worst .268 wOBA, but Jorge Bonifacio has a great matchup even in a struggling offense.
Why You Should Use Him:
It feels wrong to keep picking on Mike Pelfrey, but sometimes, you just gotta do it. The Chicago White Sox starter has posted a horrific 6.54 SIERA through a pair of starts this season, and he owns a meager 7.6% swinging-strike rate.
Enter Bonifacio, who has earned himself a lot of playing time recently due to his strong performance. Over 34 plate appearances, Bonifacio has rung up a .382 wOBA, 148 wRC+, and .200 ISO.
The Royals may be struggling, but even Vegas thinks they could be in for a big day. They're heavy favorites with an implied team total of 4.31 runs, and Bonifacio gives you cheap exposure to a great matchup.
