Luis Valbuena is our model's second-ranked point-per-dollar value among today's hitters.
His 16-plate-appearance sample size isn't enough to draw any real conclusions from, but he's coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him tag right-handed pitchers for a big 39.7% hard-hit rate and 41.9% fly-ball rate, which he turned into a .359 wOBA.
He brings that into a plus matchup against Oakland Athletics righty Kendall Graveman, who has an ugly 4.64 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) to start the year after posting marks of 4.43 in 2015 and 4.57 in 2016. He owns a career 4.69 xFIP against left-handed hitters, and is likely to struggle with Valbuena considering his strengths.
