FanDuel Price: $3,400
At first glance, the Detroit Tigers' matchup against Brad Peacock in a spot start looks like a good game to attack, but as their 4.01 implied team total suggests, it's likely not all that it's cracked up to be.
For one thing, Peacock has actually been pretty good in relief this year, sporting a 3.50 SIERA, 33.3% strikeout rate, and 24.2% hard-hit rate. However, he's had an elevated 15.2% walk rate, which could prove to be a problem.
The other issue is Peacock isn't expected to pitch deep into the game, which means lights-out reliever Chris Devenski is probably next up out of the bullpen, bringing it with his 1.35 SIERA and 46.8% strikeout rate. He has a pair of four-inning outings this season, so it isn't inconceivable that he's given a similar workload if necessary tonight.
This certainly puts a damper on using Tigers bats. Nick Castellanos may have a 50.0% hard-hit rate, but he's striking out 26.3% of the time, making him a risky bet against this duo. With elite third basemen like Kris Bryant and Manny Machado in top-notch spots, you're better off paying up at the position.
