Covey has really struggled with his first taste of big league action in 2017, posting a 5.40 SIERA with a 9.8% walk rate that is barely exceeded by his 12.8% strikeout rate through seven starts. He's also allowed a 35.7% hard-hit rate, and he has already been taken yard 11 times, including twice in each of his last four starts.

Paul Goldschmidt is no stranger to eye-popping numbers, but even by his standards, 2017 has been big with his career-best .431 wOBA through 201 plate appearances. He's also on pace for a career-high hard-hit rate (51.2%), while his soft-hit rate sits at a mere 9.6%. He's been absolutely raking this year, and Covey is not the kind of pitcher likely to slow him down.
