Jonathan Villar was a surprise breakout star in 2016, but he's struggled to find the same success this year, with a .271 wOBA and a concerning 29.6% strikeout rate. He's also hitting ground balls at a much higher rate (63.6%), limiting his power potential.
The good news is the Milwaukee Brewers have a 4.43 implied team total against Tyler Pill, who's making his first major league start. Despite Villar's issues, this is normally a spot we could hope for a turnaround.
However, over the weekend, he got dropped from batting leadoff down to seventh. It's a huge blow to his value, and effectively takes him out of DFS consideration outside of Brewers stacks.
If Villar is placed back at the top of the order, he'll be back on the map, but until then he's a player to avoid.
