FanDuel Price: $6,700
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Oddly enough, even though it's nearly a full slate, there aren't a ton of high-quality pitching options, which should make the position extremely interesting. One ace does stand out, and that's Ervin Santana of the Minnesota Twins. He's the only pitcher priced above $9,000, and is sure to be a popular play.
Jordan Montgomery of the New York Yankees is only $6,700, and part of that low-price is being driven by his 4.40 SIERA. He'll also have to tame his home park, which leads the league in home run factor over the last three seasons.
Why You Should Use Him:
Even though Montgomery's been up and down this season, he's been strong from a strikeout perspective, whiffing 22.3% of hitters.
Montgomery gets the added benefit of facing a Baltimore Orioles team that's been striking out a lot, especially as of late. Over the last two weeks, the Orioles have K'd fifth-most in the league, at 27.3%.
Montgomery hasn't allowed a ton of hard contact this season. In looking at his batted ball profile, hitters have only made hard contact 24.1% of the time.
If he can limit that again Friday night, he has a ton of strikeout upside.
