FanDuel Price: $8,400
For a while there, it looked like Michael Pineda was finally living up to that promise his peripherals have always hinted at.
Welp.
The month of June hasn't been too kind to Pineda, compiling a poor 5.86 ERA, 17.3% strikeout rate, and 34.0% hard-hit rate across five starts. A 4.31 SIERA suggests he's pitched slightly better than his ERA, but that's hardly a new development for him.
Even more maddening is his continuing inability to pitch well on the road. Seeing as Yankee Stadium isn't exactly a pitcher's park, it makes little sense, yet Pineda has a 6.25 road ERA, compared to 2.91 at home. And it may not simply be small sample size noise -- he has a 4.43 career road ERA (3.36 at home).
He hits the road again tonight, and whether or not you believe the home/road splits, he gets a scary matchup against the Houston Astros. Next, please.
