Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Lefty-masher Jose Altuve is back to his ways again, and he'll get a lefty tonight in Ariel Miranda. Leading the league in hits yet again, Altuve is sure to be a popular choice.
One less obvious play is New York Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro. Despite a very strong 2017 season, he was a bit banged up before the break and only has two hits (a single and a double) since returning from injury.
Why You Should Use Him:
While Castro may still be rounding into form, he's got a tasty matchup tonight -- facing young Minnesota Twins hurler Adalberto Mejia -- that we shouldn't ignore.
The southpaw has been solid with a strong 8.6% swinging-strike rate and a decent 4.43 ERA over 65.0 innings pitched (13 starts). However, things aren't all so rosy. The downside comes when we look at more advanced metrics, like SIERA. Mejia has recorded a 5.08 SIERA, and he's been dinged up a bit by righties. They've hit him hard for a 33.5% hard-hit rate and 39.0% fly-ball rate.
The Yankees are surely hoping Castro can bounce back to his early-season form, and tonight's matchup against Mejia may be just the right opportunity for him to do just that.
