It wasn't too long ago that we could consider targeting hitters against Mike Fiers, but that isn't so much the case anymore.

Across five July starts, Fiers has posted a 3.43 SIERA and 33.6% strikeout rate -- not exactly what you want to see your DFS sluggers going up against. And on the season as a whole, he still has a very respectable 4.16 SIERA and 24.0% strikeout rate.

As a result, the Tampa Bay Rays have a modest 4.25 implied team total, which takes the wind out of the sails for the Rays' bats. This is particularly the case for Corey Dickerson. Despite a 2017 resurgence with 21 dingers, against righties he has a surprisingly low .327 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). Additionally, in July his punchout rate jumped to an alarming 33.3%.

With Coors Field in play and other team totals hovering above 5.00 implied runs, there are simply better matchups to target.
