Jake Arrieta has been in excellent form recently, with a 38.8-FanDuel-point average and 2.05 ERA in four starts since the All-Star break. He'll look to carry that momentum into tonight's matchup against the San Francisco Giants, who have the lowest implied run total (3.43 runs) on the slate by a wide margin.
That run total shouldn't come as much of a surprise since San Francisco ranks dead last in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. This game is also being played in the spacious AT&T Park, which has the second-lowest park factor and easily the lowest home run park factor in the league.
While Arrieta might not have the upside of the other top pitching option on this slate, Max Scherzer, he also doesn't have the risk of leaving his start, as Scherzer did due to a neck issue after just one inning in his previous start. Thanks to the terrific matchup, Arrieta is the safest option on the board and is the stud to pay up for on this small slate.
