Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Squaring up with Rick Porcello of the Boston Red Sox, Tim Beckham looks to continue his hot run of play. In the month of August, Beckham's recorded a 32.9% hard-hit rate and a 35.4% fly-ball rate, which makes his 5 homers this month no surprise. Porcello and his 1.59 homers per nine innings pitched allowed this season need to be careful with his location against the new Orioles middle man.
A less obvious option is Adam Rosales of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who's in a platoon role, and is only hitting .238 on the year.
Why You Should Use Him:
With Ketel Marte manning nearly all the starts at shortstop against righties this month, Rosales has been seeing playing time at both short and third base against lefties, and that should be the case with Ty Blach taking the hill.
Blach has been decent over his 139 1/3 innings pitched in his rookie campaign, but he may be tiring. In August, he's recorded a 5.47 ERA, and his strikeout rate has dipped down this month to only 9.6%.
All 13 of Blach's 2017 homers allowed have been to righties, and Rosales has ripped off a 33.3% hard-hit rate and 41.0% fly-ball rate against lefties this year.
