Don't look now, but Chicago White Sox righty Lucas Giolito should be attracting some serious post-hype buzz after his 10-strikeout performance against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
Of course, punching out a barrel of Rays isn't anything to write home about, seeing as how Tampa has a top-three strikeout rate on the season, with a league-leading swinging-strike rate. But then again, Giolito's next start is slated to come against the anemic San Francisco Giants -- not exactly a whiff machine but not a team that's done much of anything when putting bat on ball.
Giolito's name value and prospect pedigree will make him a hot add in any leagues that are still breathing this week. This sure feels like a "run don't walk" scenario -- Giolito could be a real difference maker, not merely this week, but for remainder of the season.
