FanDuel Price: $6,100
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Having a full MLB DFS slate at our fingertips is very, very fun. Tonight will be no exception, and there are some studs taking the ball, including Justin Verlander, Masahiro Tanaka, Zack Greinke, Rich Hill, and Trevor Bauer. These five are likely to see some heavy ownership.
Owning a 4.87 SIERA this season over 108 2/3 innings, along with earning a demotion to Triple-A, Robert Gsellman is unlikely to be a popular choice at pitcher.
Why You Should Use Him:
The Mets starter has seen a dip in his strikeout rate this season (22.7% last year to 14.8% this year), but his last three starts have given some hope that the punchouts may be returning. In those outings, Gsellman has recorded a swinging-strike rate greater than 9.5% twice, posting two quality starts and wins during that time.
He gets the added benefit of facing a scuffling Washington Nationals offense on Friday, who rank only 24th in team wOBA (.296) while whiffing 23.9% of the time over the past two weeks.
