3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/2/18
Mike Trout is a monster, but his matchup against righty-killer Mike Clevinger and Cleveland's superb bullpen makes him tough to stomach at his lofty price tag.

Mike Trout, OF, Los Angeles Angels

FanDuel Price: $5,200

No one questions that Mike Trout is the best player in baseball. However, this isn't the matchup to use him in DFS, especially when you factor in his costly price tag.

Mike Clevinger doesn't have the name recognition that some of the other Cleveland Indians pitchers have, but he is just as good at making batters swing and miss. Clevinger was extraordinary against right-handed hitters in 2017, striking them out 28.3% of the time and holding them to a .259 wOBA.

Even after Clevinger leaves this game, Indians manager Terry Francona has a pretty loaded bullpen he can call on, one which features stud relievers such as Andrew Miller and Cody Allen.

Trout obviously has the talent to rake regardless of the matchup, but this is a spot that is not conducive to offense. Our models have Trout as the 14th-ranked bat on the main slate, making him tough to swallow at this cost.
