3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/6/18
Jose Altuve is one of the best hitters in the game, but he's not worth paying up for against a pitcher who quietly throttles production of right-handed bats.

Starling Marte, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates

FanDuel Price: $3,400

After being limited to just 77 games in 2017 due to suspension, Starling Marte has gotten off to a solid start in 2018, already displaying his power and speed with a home run and steal. However, just like the aforementioned Altuve, he is facing a pitcher who is very tough on right-handed batters.

Luis Castillo was just a rookie last season, but he excelled regardless, striking out 27.3% of the batters he faced and recording a 3.63 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA). Castillo experienced his greatest success against right-handed hitters. He struck right-handed batters out 29.9% of the time in 2017 and held them to a 27.4% hard-hit rate and a 23.0% fly-ball rate.

Marte has had relatively mild platoon splits in his career, which may make other DFS players comfortable using him in their lineups. Don't be one of those players, as against a pitcher who limits hard contact in the air against right-handed batters, Marte's upside is almost entirely sapped.
