Daily Fantasy Baseball: Positive Batted-Ball Regression Candidates for Week 3
Andrew McCutchen is off to a slow start, but his batted-ball profile hints at better days ahead. Which other hitters are on the verge of breaking through?

Andrew Benintendi, OF, Boston Red Sox

While the Boston Red Sox have roared out of the gates to an electric start, promising young outfielder Andrew Benintendi has demurred, posting a modest .423 slugging line with no homers over the season's opening weeks. It's not as if the Sox slugger has been tearing the cover off the ball, either -- Benintendi's mere 17.8% hard-contact rate with a 53.3% ground-ball rate is, we have to admit, rather chilling.

Still, Benintendi appears to be seeing the ball well (18.8% walk rate against a 10.9% strikeout rate) and showing plus bat speed (53.3% pull rate), so it might only be a matter of time before the youngster turns that outsized 60% medium-contact rate into surer strokes.

Daily players might consider lining up Benintendi in this week as a solid mid-priced option against soft right-handed starters Andrew Cashner and Andrew Triggs.
