FanDuel Price: $3,000
Zack Cozart's price tag is already reduced because of his tough matchup against Gerrit Cole, but even aside from the daunting opposing pitcher, there are a couple reasons he is an avoid.
Let's start though by examining just how nasty this matchup is. Cole has a 2.04 SIERA on the year, and he's been tough on right-handed batters in his career, holding them to a .289 wOBA.
This normally wouldn't be that big of a problem, considering the price is adjusted for the matchup, but Cozart also has extreme platoon splits. In his career, Cozart has a 87 wRC+ against right-handed pitching, compared to a 101 wRC+ against southpaws. His career hard-hit rate against right-handers is a lousy 25.9%.
Even in his breakout 2017, Cozart was a different hitter against lefties compared to righties. His 2017 wRC+ against southpaws was 172, but it dipped to 132 against right-handers. His hard-hit rate -- 36.1% against left-handed pitching and 29.2% against right-handed pitching -- followed a similar trend.
Against a tough right-handed pitcher, Cozart is a fade.
