The Philadelphia Phillies draw a plus-matchup tonight against San Francisco Giants righty Chris Stratton. Just looking at the seven games on the main slate, their 4.74 implied total ranks second tonight.
Stratton has opened 2018 with a 4.60 SIERA, which brings his career average over three Major League seasons to a very pedestrian 4.81. He has been especially egregious against left-handed bats, with an awful 5.40 xFIP, and that opens the door for the switch-hitting Carlos Santana.
Santana has shown more power against right-handed pitching than against left in his career, with a solid .214 ISO. If we just look at his numbers since the start of the 2017 season, his 523 plate appearances against right-handed pitching have seen him post a solid .349 wOBA and .218 ISO, and he shouldn't have much trouble with Stratton.
