FanDuel Price: $3,100
Nick Castellanos is a hitter we rarely want to fade, as his 45.4% hard-hit rate (43.4% last season) gives him monstrous upside on any given day. This may be the time to fade Castellanos, however.
Even with the tremendous hard-hit rate, a .389 batting average on balls in play is primed for regression towards Castellanos's .329 career mark. Plus, his 15.6% swinging-strike rate indicates his strikeout rate should be a lot higher than 21.7%. He also has a career 99 wRC+ against right-handed pitching, which is essentially average, and he has to face a tough right-hander in Jose Berrios.
Berrios has been pretty good this year with a 3.57 SIERA. He has also been fantastic against right-handed hitters throughout his career, holding them to a .307 wOBA. This includes a 22.9% strikeout rate and 28.5% hard-hit rate.
Facing Berrios, Castellanos is an avoid for DFS purposes.
