The New York Yankees' offense is in a great spot against Doug Fister and the Rangers on Wednesday, and their 5.65 implied total is the day's highest mark by a big margin.
Fister hasn't finished a season with a skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) better than 4.30 since 2014, and he has had an especially tough time with left-handed bats recently. Over the last two seasons, he has given up a 4.67 xFIP on a huge 41.0% hard-hit rate to lefties.
The switch-hitting Neil Walker has done his best work against right-handed pitching over his career. He hasn't produced well to start the season, but in 461 plate appearances against righties over the past two seasons, he has a reasonable .344 wOBA on a 35.5% hard-hit rate. That's more than enough to make him a way to get cheap exposure to the Yankees' offense.
