5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 5/23/18
Chad Pinder has been outstanding against southpaws, which bodes well for him tonight against Seattle's Marco Gonzales. Which other budget-friendly hitters should you target on Wednesday?

Pedro Alvarez, 3B, Baltimore Orioles

Price: $2,600

The Baltimore Orioles' 4.96 implied total is the night's second-highest mark, and they also draw a great matchup against a righty as they take on the Chicago White Sox.

Dylan Covey has only made one start in 2018, but he got tagged for four earned runs in six innings in that one. Over 19 games in 2 two Major League seasons, he has an awful 5.63 SIERA while allowing a 37.4% hard-hit rate.

Pedro Alvarez has been significantly better than his weak production may indicate this season. He has only managed a .164 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) compared to a .288 career average. BABIP is hugely prone to variance over a small sample, and even with Alvarez' 33.3% hard-hit rate being low by his standards, his BABIP is not going to remain that low for long.

Despite the low BABIP, he already has a not-terrible .326 wOBA to go with a strong .271 ISO, and he offers a ton of value in a matchup this juicy.
