Daily Fantasy Baseball: Positive Batted-Ball Regression Candidates for Week 9
The power outage from Oakland slugger Matt Joyce appears to be a run of bad batted-ball luck. Which other hitters seem poised for positive regression in Week 9?

Jay Bruce, New York Mets

Jay Bruce's embrace of the fly-ball revolution has paid few dividends in 2018, as the southpaw slugger currently totes a .123 isolated slugging percentage on just 3 long balls through 179 plate appearances. Seeing Bruce's hard-contact rate wallow at a pedestrian 32.3% isn't all that reassuring.

Still, Bruce's quality of contact isn't all bad news: he has a strong 26.0% line drive rate to go along with a tiny 3.9% infield-fly rate, the lowest such mark of his career, all of which contributes to an expected slugging of .460 that bests his actual results by 100 percentage points. With his FanDuel salary hovering below $3,000, Bruce is worth a look as a roster filler against righties Julio Teheran and Tyler Chatwood in Week 9.
