Aaron Judge struck out eight times during yesterday's doubleheader. That is obviously suboptimal, but it doesn't take away from the strong spot he finds himself in again on Tuesday.
Tonight, Judge will be up against Toronto Blue Jays righty Marco Estrada, who represents a terrific matchup. The 34-year-old Estrada is on pace for a career-worst 5.13 SIERA through 11 starts this year, and his 16.5% strikeout rate is his lowest since his 2008 rookie campaign. His 32.7% hard-hit rate is the highest he has allowed since 2014, his 19.9% soft-hit rate is his lowest since 2013, and his 53.6% fly-ball rate is on pace to be a career-high clip.
Nobody with at least 50 batted balls against right-handers has notched a higher average exit velocity than Judge this season, and his 47.1% hard-hit rate and 36.5% fly-ball rate against righties have earned him a .423 wOBA and .304 ISO.
The New York Yankees have Tuesday's second-highest implied total (5.48), and this is a great spot for Judge to bounce back from yesterday's struggles.
