It looked like Tommy Pham's monster 2017 breakthrough was extending into 2018 over the season's first month, with the five-tool St. Louis Cardinals' outfielder opening the season with a scorching .341/.453./511 slash line across his first 106 plate appearances.
Pham's fortunes have dimmed considerably since the start of May, though, with the 30-year old slashing an ugly .220/.279/.390 while his strikeout rate has ballooned to 28.7%.
Pham isn't looking utterly lost, though, managing 51.2% hard contact in that recent sample, with 21% liners and a 50% pull percentage indicating he's still stroking the baseball with authority. With his FanDuel salary dipping into the mid-$3,000s, Pham could produce at a modest cost, especially early in the week against a soft San Diego Padres rotation.
