Owning Odubel Herrera in fantasy can be one of the more frustrating experiences of one's life, and this year has been no exception.
Herrera is a player of extremes. He had a 45-game on-base streak to start the season and, at the end of it, was batting .353/.420/.558 with 7 homers, 30 RBIs and 24 runs scored and a wOBA of .419. However, he's been in a tailspin since, going 13-for-75 (.175 batting average) with 23 strikeouts, 3 walks and just 2 RBIs, and he has seen his average fall to a season-low .288.
For those of you who have followed Herrera's career, you'll note this isn't the first time he's done this. He's a streaky hitter and when he gets out of rhythm, can go cold for a month or so. Last year, Herrera batted .183 for the entire month of May, then went on to hit .318 over the last four months of the season.
Now is a great buying opportunity for one of the best hitters in the National League who is going through one of his scheduled slumps and will emerge on the other side soon.
